About the development
Apex partnered with Lambeth & Southwark Housing Association (LSHA) to deliver 30 high-quality affordable rent homes in Bermondsey, South London.
The scheme transformed two adjacent residential blocks through an innovative design and construction approach. Works included a two-storey rooftop extension across both buildings, new bookend structures at either end, and a central core connecting the blocks via a new lift, stairwell, and communal entrance. Homes were delivered using a hybrid construction method, combining off-site modular units with lightweight steel-frame structures built on site at the bookend forecourts.
Completed in late 2024, the development unlocked underutilised space above and beside existing housing association blocks to deliver 30 much-needed affordable homes. By employing exoskeleton technology, the scheme avoided demolition, reduced environmental impact, and meaningfully improved facilities for existing tenants.
Situated minutes from Bermondsey, South Bermondsey, and Surrey Quays stations, residents benefit from excellent connectivity via the Jubilee line and London Overground.
